MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

The impact of mental health conditions on the Canadian workplace is estimated to cost at least 14 billion dollars per year in health costs and reduced productivity. Psychological conditions are now some of the greatest sources of disability claims for employers. Early detection and effective management of these conditions are critical in terms of reducing employee distress, and increasing productivity and employee retention. This program is designed primary for managers, owners, human resource, and rehabilitation staff.

psychological conditions in the workplace (eg. depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse)
managing employees with psychological conditions (such as personality disorders) who can be responsible for creating toxic office politics
dealing with employees with learning/intelligence limitations or ADHD, which can compromise productivity and create interpersonal problems
dealing with workplace trauma (violence, injuries)
prevention and early identification of mental health conditions
supporting employees with mental health issues (counselling, coaching, mediation, return to work programs)

Presenter
Dr. Davidson has extensive experience with employees experiencing psychological conditions. He has considerable experience in managing and operating employee assistance and disability management programs, workplace stress and conflict management programs, teambuilding, executive coaching, and career development programs. He has taught university level courses in abnormal psychology, social work and education. Published in the areas of conflict management and organizational stress management, he has presented his research nationally and in Europe. He maintains a private practice in Vernon.
